Dodd, Robert Lee b. November 11, 1908 d. June 21, 1988 College Football Coach. Named for the Civil War general whom his father admired, he led his team to the mythical Tennessee state football championship in 1923 with an 8-1-1 record. From 1928 to 1930 Dodd, as captain, led the University of Tennessee to a 27-1-2 record. He was named All Southern in 1929 to 1930, and Collier All America by Grantland Rice his senior season.
