Hastings, Daniel Oren b. March 5, 1874 d. May 9, 1966 US Senator. He served as a United States Senator from Delaware from 1928 to 1937, but was defeated as Republican in 1936. He also served as the Secretary of the State of Delaware in 1909, Justice of the Delaware State Supreme Court from 1909 to 1911, State Court Judge from 1920 to 1929,and Delegate to the Republican National Convention from Delaware in 1920 as Alternate, and in 1932 as Delegate. Peterson, Russell Wilbur 'Russ' b. October 3, 1916 d. February 21, 2011 Governor of Delaware. A member of the Republican Party, he served as the State of Delaware's governor from 1969 until 1973. The Wisconsin native attained his BS in 1938 and received his PhD in Chemistry four years later from the University of Wisconsin. He served as an executive with the DuPont Company, prior to his political career. Stewart, John George b. June 2, 1890 d. May 24, 1970 US Congressman. He was a successful civil engineer when he was appionted commissioner of the Delaware Emergency Relief Commission in 1934.
