A native of Mayfield, Wisconsin, Hill was awarded his MOH for service at Date Creek, Arizona as a Sergeant with Company E, 5th United States Cavalry on September 8, 1872. Roberts, Dorothea b. August 9, 1861 d. October 5, 1942 Astronomer. Born in California and educated in Europe, she graduated from the University of Paris in 1886 with a degree in Science and went to work at the Paris Observatory. By 1891, she was appointed the Director of the Bureau of Measurements at the Paris Observatory, a post she held until 1901 when she resigned from the Observatory. She would officially receive her doctorate in the Sciences in 1893. The Klumpke-Roberts Award is named in her honor and awarded for work in the field of Astronomy.
