Alderson, John Duffy b. November 29, 1854 d. December 5, 1910 US Congressman. He served as sergeant at arms and doorekeeper of the West Virginia State Senate before he was twenty. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1876, and began practicing in Nicholas and Webster Counties, West Virginia. Elected to Congress as a Democrat in 1888, he served three terms, from 1889 to 1895. Defeated for reeleciton in 1894, he returned to his law practice in Nicholas County.
