Papadopoulos, Tassos b. January 7, 1934 d. December 12, 2008 President of the Republic of Cyprus. Born in Nicosia, he served as president of the island nation from February 2003 until February 2008. Trained as a lawyer at London's King College, he served as Minister of the Interior, Finance, Labor, Health and Agriculture before ascending to the presidency. At age 26, he became the youngest cabinet minister to serve in the Cypriot Government following independence from Great Britain in 1960. He died in the nation's capital from lung cancer.
