Clay, Brutus Junius b. July 1, 1808 d. October 11, 1878 US Congressman. He graduated from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, and became a farmer and cattle breeder. He served in the Kentucky State Legislature in 1840, and for a second time in 1860. In 1862 he was elected as a Unionist to represent Kentucky's 7th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives, holding his seat for one term, 1863 to 1865, and serving as Chairman of the Agriculture Committee.
