Steiner, Christian d. August 5, 1880 Indian Wars Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. A native of Germany, he served in the United States Army during the Wars with the Plains Indians as a Private and Saddler in Company G, 8th United States Cavalry. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery at the Chiricahua Mountains, Arizona on October 20, 1869. His citation reads simply "Gallantry in action." His Medal was awarded to him on February 14, 1870.
