Alston, Joseph b. 1779 d. September 10, 1816 South Carolina Governor. Alston attended what is now Princeton University and graduated college before he turned seventeen. He studied law in the office of Edward Rutledge (Signer of the Declaration of Independence) and was admitted to the bar by 1799.
