After training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen from 1931 to 1935, he began a career as a satirical cartoonist with the Social Democratic daily press, where his cartoons of Hitler and other Nazi leaders provoked several protests from the German embassy. Haugland, Aage b. February 1, 1944 d. December 23, 2000 Opera singer. A noted bass who had given up his medicine studies to take singing lessons aspiring to become a professional singer. In 1968 he won a singing competition in Oslo and was offered a two-year contract with The Norwegian Opera. There he was contacted by the German operatic director Gotz Friederich who introduced him to the Bremen Opera which led to a contract for the seasons 1970 to 1973.
