• Bower, Gustavus Miller    b. December 12, 1790  d. November 17, 1864
  US Congressman. He served in the War of 1812, as a surgeon-dresser and was one of the few survivors of the Battle of Frenchtown. In 1843, he was elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-eighth Congress, serving until 1845. After his term, he resumed the practice of medicine until his death. (Bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
