Ames, Benjamin b. October 30, 1778 d. September 28, 1835 Governor of Maine. He graduated from Harvard University in 1803, attained admission to the bar in 1806, and moved to Bath, Maine. In 1807 he was appointed Lincoln County Attorney, and in 1811 he was named Judge of the Court of Common Pleas, serving until 1814. From 1818 to 1828 he served on Bowdoin College's Board of Overseers.
