Dumas, Thomas-Alexandre b. March 25, 1762 d. February 26, 1806 French Army General. Father of Alexandre Dumas (père) and grandfather of Alexandre Dumas (fils). The son of Alexandre-Antoine Davy de la Pailleterie and a Haitian slave, he enlisted in the French army in 1786 under the name Thomas-Alexandre Dumas.
