Samson, George McKenzie b. January 7, 1889 d. February 23, 1923 World War I Victoria Cross Recipient. Born in Scotland, he served as a Seaman in the British Royal Navy Reserve. During the landing on V Beach Cape Helles, Gallipoli, Turkey, on April 25, 1915, Seaman Samson was on the ship HMS River Clyde that was attempting to land 2000 troops onto the beach.
