Karel, Rudolf b. November 9, 1880 d. March 6, 1945 Composer. One of the leading Czech composers of his generation, he was born in Pilsen, Bohemia, and attended the National Conservatory in Prague from 1901 to 1904, taking master classes with composer Antonin Dvorak. During World War I he served on the Russian front in the Information Division of the Austro-Hungarian Army and later with the Czech Legion.
