Fogg, Mieczyslaw b. May 30, 1901 d. September 3, 1990 Entertainer. Real name Mieczyslaw Fogiel. He was one of the most popular Polish singers of the 20th century. Starting his career well before World War II, he traveled the country first in vaudeville acts and later toured the world with his own song-and-dance group. He was able to sing in different languages, which made him very popular with his audiences outside of Poland. Konopacka, Halina b. November 11, 1900 d. January 28, 1989 Olympic Champion. She placed first in the discus throw during the 1928 Amsterdam Olympic Games, which made her the first woman to win a Gold Medal in an Olympic track and field event.
