Thompson, David John Howard b. December 25, 1962 d. October 23, 2010 Statesman. He served as prime minister of the Caribbean island nation of Barbados, from January 2008 until his death. Elected to Parliament in 1987 as a member of St. John district, he rose to head the Democratic Labour Party (DLP), defeating incumbent Prime Minister Owen Arthur in the January 2008 elections.
