Fernando IV b. December 6, 1285 d. December 7, 1312 King of Castile and León. Born the son of Sancho IV and Maria de Molina. His father had, with the support of the aristocracy, usurped the throne from his nephew, and contended with civil strife throughout his reign. According to records, he cemented his hold on power by executing 4,000 of his nephew's followers in Badajoz.
