Vicente, Esteban b. January 20, 1903 d. January 11, 2001 Painter. Born in Turégano, Segovia, Spain, Vicente was one of the last surviving members of the first generation of the New York School of Abstract-Expressionist painters, along with Pollock, De Kooning and Rotko. Vicente lived in Paris as a young man, where he knew Pablo Picasso and Max Ernst. Later, he was forced into exile and he served as the vice-consul for the loyalist government in Philadelphia.
