Arnold, Thomas b. June 13, 1795 d. June 12, 1842 Literary Figure, Headmaster and historian. He was born on the Isle of Wight and educated at Winchester and Corpus Christi College, Oxford. After being appointed Headmaster of Rugby Public School, he turned round the fortunes and educational system at Rugby which was a model for many other public schools in England at the time. He was portrayed as the leading character in the novel, "Tom Brown's School Days". He was the father of poet Matthew Arnold and the grandfather of writer Aldous Huxley.
