Hrabal, Bohumil b. March 28, 1914 d. February 3, 1997 Author. He was born in Brno, Moravia, Czech Republic. He is considered one of the greatest Czech writers of the 20th century and particularly remembered for his best seller "Closely Watched Trains" (1965) (Ostĝe sledované vlaky), which was made into a film by Czech director Jiĝí Menzel.
