Couperus, Louis b. June 10, 1863 d. July 16, 1923 Writer. Born and raised in The Hague. Considered a formeost figure in Dutch Literature, he was a virtuoso at observing and uncovering the lives of his country's fin de siecle bourgeoisie. His literary efforts, in all some fifty books, range from novels and travel stories to poetry.
