Henderson, Skitch (Lyle Russell Cedric) b. January 27, 1918 d. November 1, 2005 Band Leader, Conductor. Grammy Award-winning conductor and founder of the New York Pops. He was also the first band leader of TV's "Tonight" show. His nickname, "Skitch," shortened from "the sketch kid," was given to him by actor-crooner Bing Crosby.
