Foronda, Pituka de b. July 16, 1918 d. November 12, 1999 Actress. Born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the Canary Islands, she was the daughter of author Mercedes Pinto. After some stage experience in Montevideo, Uruguay, she made her motion picture debut in Cuba's first "talkie", "La Serpiente Roja" (1937). In 1941 Foronda went to Hollywood and made a screen test for the drama "For Whom the Bell Tolls", but the part went to Ingrid Bergman.
