Zorrilla, José b. February 21, 1817 d. January 23, 1893 Author. He was born in Valladolid, Castilla-León, Spain. A leader of the Spanish Romantic movement, he wrote some 25 plays, mostly between the years 1840 and 1845. Zorrilla is best remembered for his play "Don Juan Tenorio" (1844). It has become Spanish tradition to stage this drama every year on All Saints Day. He died of a brain tumor.
