Dankworth, Sir. John Philip William b. September 20, 1927 d. February 6, 2010 Musician. A saxophonist, he was one of Britain's best known jazz performers and composers for nearly 60 years. Raised by a musical family in Walthamstow, Essex, he studied piano and violin from early childhood.
