D'Audney, Angela Louise b. August 26, 1944 d. February 5, 2002 Popular New Zealand radio personality. She worked as a reporter, presenter and talkshow host on radio, and presented regional and arts programs on TV-New Zealand (TVNZ) before becoming one of its national newsreaders. Judson, Reginald Stanley b. September 29, 1881 d. August 26, 1972 World War I Victoria Cross Medal Recipient. He served as a Sergeant in the 1st Battalion of the Auckland Infantry Regiment. At Bapaume, France, August 26, 1918, he led a small bombing party under heavy fire in attack on a German position. He went out alone and extinguished three machine gun crews, capturing two officers and ten men. When they tried to escape firing on him, he killed two and forced the remaining to surrender. Tumahi, Charlie b. 1949 d. December 21, 1995 Musician. Popular singer and bass player who fronted The Herbs in New Zealand in the 1980s and 1990s, as well as Be Bop Delux in England, and Tandori Cassette. Tumahai appeared in the movie "Once Were Worriers," and was a prolific sessions performer. The Herbs had a huge hit in 1986 with Dave Dobbyn's "Slice Of Heaven," from the soundtrack to the animated film "Footrot Flats." The single was voted one of the Top Ten New Zealand songs of all time.
