Nevada, Emma b. February 7, 1859 d. June 20, 1940 Opera Singer. A leading coloratura soprano of the late 19th Century, she earned particular praise for interpreting the "bel canto" roles of Bellini and Donizetti. Born Emma Wixom in the Alpha mining camp where her physician father was working, she was raised in Nevada City, California.
