Yen, Chia-kan b. October 23, 1905 d. December 24, 1993 President of the Republic of China. A graduate in chemistry from St. John's University in Shanghai, Yen served several positions in the Kuomintang government, including Minister of Economic Affairs, Minister of Finance, Governor of Taiwan Province, and Premier of the Republic of China (ROC).
