Mathewson, Elisha b. April 18, 1767 d. October 14, 1853 US Senator. A gentleman farmer, his first political appointment was as justice of the peace of Scituate, Massachusetts. He was elected as a Senator from Massachusetts to the United States Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of James Fenner, and served from October 26, 1807 to March 3, 1811.
