Gruelle, Johnny Barton b. December 24, 1880 d. January 9, 1938 Author. He produced cartoons and drawings for numerous newspapers and magazines including "The New York Herald" and "Good Housekeeping." He wrote the prize winning comic strip "Brutus." In 1915 he patented and trademarked the doll which became known and loved throughout the world as "Raggedy Ann".
