Potter, Elisha Reynolds b. November 5, 1764 d. September 26, 1835 US Congressman. A veteran of the Revolutionary War, he worked at blacksmithing and agriculture before taking up the law profession. He was a member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives from 1793 to 1796, 1798 to 1808, 1816 to 1817 and from 1819 until his death, serving many times as speaker of that body. From 1796 to 1797 and again from 1809 to 1815 he served as Representative from Rhode Island in the United States Congress. Potter, Elisha Reynolds b. June 20, 1811 d. April 10, 1882 US Congressman. An 1830 graduate of Harvard University, he took up the law profession following graduation. He served as Adjutant General of Rhode Island from 1835 to 1836 and served in the Rhode Island House of Representatives from 1838 to 1840. From 1843 to 1845 he served as Representative from Rhode Island in the United States Congress.
