Stanton, John William b. February 10, 1924 d. April 11, 2002 US Congressman. Also known as J. William Stanton, he was born in Painesville, Ohio, in 1924. After graduating from Culver Military Academy in 1942, he served a four year term in the US Army. In 1949, he graduated from Georgetown University. His first taste of political life came in 1956 when he was elected Commissioner of Lake County Ohio. He was reelected in 1960. In 1964, Stanton was elected to Congress.
