Herschell, Allan b. 1851 d. 1927 Amusement Park Innovator. In 1873, together with James Armitage, he created the Herschell Armitage Company which carved many portable carousels. He formed his own company in 1901, which made more elaborate carousels with many types of animals. Herschell specialized in horses with rigid poses and portable machines, which were shipped easily between towns all over the United States and Canada.
