Hazen's Brigade Monument [memorial] This memorial is arguably the oldest surviving Civil War Monument. It was built by the surviving members of the brigade led by Colonel William B. Hazen, shortly after the Battle of Stones River, on the ground they had protected. They held their ground at the "Round Forest," the only brigade not to retreat from their position on December 31, 1862.
