Browne, Edward Stevenson b. December 23, 1852 d. July 16, 1917 Zulu Wars Victoria Cross Medal Recipient. He served as a Lieutenant in the 1st Battalion, 24th Regiment, British Army. On March 29, 1879, at Inhlobane Mountain, Africa, when the Mounted Infantry were being driven to retreat by the enemy, Lieutenant Browne twice galloped back under heavy fire and helped a man on to his horse who would otherwise would have fallen into the hands of Zulu warriors.
