Maxwell, Francis Aylmer b. September 7, 1871 d. September 21, 1917 2nd Boer War Victoria Cross Recipient. Born in Guildford, Surrey England, he served as a Lieutenant in the Indian Staff Corps attached Light Horse, Indian Army. In actions at Korn Spruit, South Africa, March 31, 1900, Lieutenant Maxwell although not an officer belonging to Q Battery, Royal Horse Artillery, took it a pond himself the duty of saving the guns of the battery during an enemy assault.
