Brewer, William John b. 1843 d. June 19, 1878 Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Private in the Union Army in Company C, 2d New York Cavalry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on April 4, 1865 at Appomattox Campaign, Virginia. His citation reads "Capture of engineer flag, Army of Northern Virginia."
