De La Cruz, San Juan b. June 24, 1542 d. December 14, 1591 Spanish Religious Figure and Writer. He entered in Carmelitas Order and with Santa Teresa de Jesús, trying to reform this Order. He was in jail for a time. He is remembered for his works full of mysticism. Among the are "Cántico Espiritual," "Noche Oscura," and "Llama de Amor Viva."
