• Geran, Elmer Hendrickson   b. October 24, 1876  d. January 12, 1954
  United States Congressman. Elected to the Sixty-eighth Congress from New Jersey 3rd District serving from 1923-1925. Prior to that, he served two terms in the New Jersey State Assembly from 1911-12 and 1916-17. He was appointed United States District Attorney for the state of New Jersey in 1920 by President Wilson.   3rd New Jersey Governor. Served as a Lieutenant in the New Jersey Militia in 1775. Appointed Major in Colonel Charles Stewart’s Battalion of Minutemen 1776. Appointed Brigade Major in the Monmouth County Militia, 1776, and was made Major of Colonel Nathaniel Heard’s battalion. He was later promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and brigadier major at Monmouth.   British Revolutionary War Army Officer. The younger brother of British Major General Robert Monckton, he served in the British Army in the intial stages of the war as a member of the Royal Engineers. Wounded at the August 1776 Battle of Long Island, he was serving as Lieutenant Colonel and commander of the Second Battalion of British Grenadiers, Lieutenant General Lord Charles Cornwallis' 1st Division of Sir Henry Clinton's army, when the June 28, 1778 Battle of Monmouth occurred.
