Born in Rungsted, Demark, he served as a Private in the 42nd Infantry Battalion, Canadian Extraordinary Forces. On August 12, 1918 at Parvillers, France, Private Dinesen rushed forward alone against entrenched German troops and put hostile guns out of action.
