Southard, David b. 1845 d. 1894 Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. Served during the Civil War as a Sergeant in Company C, 1st New Jersey Volunteer Cavalry. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery at the Battle of Sailors Creek, Virginia on April 6, 1865. His citation reads "Capture of flag; and was the first man over the works in the charge". His Medal was awarded to him on July 3, 1865.
