Beamer, John Valentine b. November 17, 1896 d. September 8, 1964 US Congressman. He served in the United States Army during World War I. Elected to represent Indiana's 5th District in the United States House of Representatives, he served from 1951 to 1959, but was defeated in 1958. Cowgill, Calvin b. January 7, 1819 d. February 10, 1903 US Congressman. He served in the Union Army during the Civil War. Elected to represent Indiana's 11th District in the United States House of Representatives, he served from 1879 to 1881. He also served as a Member of the Indiana State House of Representatives from 1851 to 1852, and in 1865, and as Presidential Elector from Indiana in 1872. Pettit, John Upfold b. September 11, 1820 d. March 21, 1881 US Congressman. A graduate of Union College in Schenectady, New York, he was admitted to the Indiana Bar in 1841. He served in the Indiana State Legislature, and was elected as a Republican to represent Indiana's 11th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives. He served from 1855 to 1861, and chose not to run for reelection. He was an active supporter for the Union cause once the Civil War started, and helped recruit the 75th Indiana Volunteer Infantry.
