Blount, Winton M. b. February 1, 1921 d. October 24, 2002 United States Postmaster General 1969-1971. Mr. Blount, also known as "Red", played a lead role in transforming the United States Post Office Department into the independent U.S. Postal Service. He was the last Postmaster Genral to hold the cabinet level position title of Postmaster General. He was also a major benefactor of the National Postal Museum in Washington, D.C.
