Hapgood, Charles Edward b. November 11, 1830 d. September 24, 1909 Civil War Union Army Officer. Served during the Civil War as Colonel and commander of the 5th New Hampshire Volunteer Infantry. He commanded the regiment as a Lieutenant Colonel during the Battle of Gettysburg. Pincus, Gregory b. April 9, 1903 d. August 22, 1967 Scientist. In 1956 Pincus co-developed the female oral contraceptive, known as the "pill." In 1960 Pincus began marketing the contraceptive in 1960. In 1954 he co-founded the Worcester Foundation for Experimental Biology in Shrewsbury, Massuchusetts. Ward, Artemas b. November 26, 1727 d. October 28, 1800 Revolutionary War Continental Major General.
