Keokuk, Chief. Moses b. 1821 d. October 27, 1908 Moses Keokuk (Wunagisa) was principal chief of the Sac & Fox Nation at the time of the ceding of the tribal lands to the U.S. Government in 1891. After a series of removals to Iowa, Missouri and Kansas, the Sac & Fox were finally settled on part of the lands given up by the Creeks, between the Cimarron River and the North Canadian, primarily in present day Lincoln County.
