Gooch, John Saunders 'Colonel Jack' b. June 7, 1842 d. December 23, 1915 Civil War Confederate Army Officer. The son of Dr John Claiborne Gooch, builder and owner of Goochland, a stately plantation home in Smyrna, Tennessee, he was best known for the organizing Company E of the 20th Tennessee Infantry regiment in Smyrna during the Spring of 1861 (the Goochland property was used for drill training).
