Baldwin, Henry Alexander b. January 12, 1871 d. October 8, 1946 US Congressman. From 1915 to 1917 he served as a Colonel in the 3rd Regiment of the Hawaii National Guard and as a member of the Territorial Senate, 1913 to 1921. In 1922, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-seventh Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of J. Kuhio Kalanianaole, serving until 1923. He declined to be a candidate for re-nomination, engaged in sugar planting, was a member Hawaii House of Representatives in 1933 and a member of the State Senate, 1934 to 1937. Dole, James Drummond b. September 27, 1877 d. May, 1958 The "Pineapple King" of Hawaii. Dole came to Hawaii in 1899, and purchased 61 acres of land in Wahiawa, Oahu. The establishment of his first plantation marked the beginning of the Hawaiian pineapple industry. In 1907 it was moved to Honolulu for business reasons, and stayed in operation until 1991. He would later purchase the island of Lanai and convert it from a dry, sparsely inhabited island to the largest pineapple plantation anywhere in the world.
