Arminius, Jacobus b. 1560 d. 1609 Theologian. Major controverial theology professor at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. He propounded the theological system that would become known as "Arminianism." Robinson, John d. March 1, 1625 Pastor of the Pilgrims who hoped to follow them after the Mayflower arrived in America, but he died in Holland before he could go to America.
