Garrard, Israel b. October 22, 1822 d. September 21, 1901 Civil War Union Brevet Brigadier General. A Harvard graduate, he was part of a successful law firm in Cincinnati, Ohio at the outbreak of the war. On September 18, 1862, he was commissioned Colonel in command of the 7th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry and went into the field with the army of Ohio. He joined General Burnside and took command of a brigade then in Kentucky.
