Foster, Mac 'The Knife' b. June 27, 1942 d. July 19, 2010 Professional Boxer. Born MacArthur Foster, he was raised in Fresno, California, one of 11 children. After attending Washington High School, he turned down a track and field scholarship to Fresno State University in order to serve in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. After his military discharge he began his professional career, and from 1966 to 1970 amassed 24 consecutive wins, all by way of knockout. Troy, William b. January 1, 1848 d. November 1, 1907 1871 Korean Incursion Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. Troy served as a Ordinary Seaman in the United States Navy. His citation reads, "On board the U.S.S. Colorado during the capture of the Korean forts, 11 June 1871. Fighting at the side of Lt. McKee, by whom he was especially commended, Troy was badly wounded by the enemy." It was awarded on June 11, 1871 at Citadel, Korea. He has a memorial marker with no remains. Wilson, Stan (Stanley) C. b. May 2, 1922 d. June 8, 2005 Jazz Musician. A native of Oakland, California, he attended elementary schools in both his hometown and in in Berkeley, California. He gave his first music performance while still in grade school. In 1940, he graduated from the Berkeley High School in Berkeley, California, and by 1949, he was playing professionally. A self-taught musician he played the likes of folk, calypso, ballads, jazz, and the blues.
